Obiettivi formativi
L’obiettivo principale del corso è integrare la preparazione in campo chimico con la conoscenza dei più comuni procedimenti di esecuzione di un sopralluogo giudiziario, di rappresentazione video-fotografica, di evidenziazione, classificazione, raccolta, conservazione e custodia dei reperti, di verbalizzazione, di esecuzione di prove e comparazioni sperimentali, tipiche delle scienze forensi.
The main objective of the course is to integrate the preparation in chemistry with the knowledge of the most common procedures of enforcement of a judicial inspection, video-camera registrations, enhancement, classification, collection, storage and custody of finds, verbalization, testing and experimental comparisons, typical of forensic science. Beside this aspect, this course is aimed to educate students towards the study/investigation of samples/results/evidence whose characterization has crucial consequences on the health of citizens or their criminal prosecution .

With this course, strudents are expected to attain a basic level of chemical knowledge, and its understanding, relevant for criminalistics, augmented by knowledge in related or contiguous professional fields (examination of the scene of the crime, the acquisition of the finds and their characterization) and forensic medicine

Modalità di insegnamento
L'insegnamento prevede 64 ore di lezioni frontali, 32 nel II semestre del I anno (anticipazione didattica), e 32 nel I semestre del II anno. Del primo blocco, 4 h vengono svolte presso una caserma dell'Arma dei Carabinieri, in abbinamento ad una attività dimostrativa.
The course is based on 64 hours of lectures (32 in the II semester of the first year, and 32 in the I semester of the II year). Of the first part, 4 h are lectured in a Carabinieri station, combined with a demonstration activity.

Esame della scena del reato
- Il sopralluogo di polizia giudiziaria nell’ordinamento giuridico: sopralluogo ed investigazioni scientifiche nell’Arma dei Carabinieri e nella Polizia di Stato; criteri generali del sopralluogo: fini ed applicazione pratica; attrezzature e materiali, preparazione, protezione ed accesso alla scena del reato; ricerca di tracce biologiche; ricerca di impronte digitali; ricerca e comparazione di impronte diverse (pneumatici, suole di scarpa ecc; il repertamento biologico; esaltazione e repertamento di impronte digitali; repertamento di tracce generiche; abbandono dalla scena; i criteri generali della Bloodstain Pattern Analysis (BPA); applicazione della BPA al sopralluogo.
- Il repertamento balistico, ed elementi di balistica: generalità sulle armi e sulle munizioni; la legislazione sulle armi; balistica interna, intermedia e terminale. Generalità sulla identificazione balistica, delle impronte che l’arma imprime su bossolo e proiettile; il microscopio comparatore ed il sistema IBIS.
- Introduzione agli aspetti medico-legali del sopralluogo: cenni di anatomia topografica; La valutazione dell’epoca della morte; tanatologia e fenomeni cadaverici; identificazione dei resti scheletrici.
Criminalistica
- Biologia forense: le tracce biologiche; identificazione generica di sangue; identificazione di sangue umano, sperma, saliva; il DNA: struttura e caratteristiche; l’evoluzione delle indagini genetiche; tecniche di estrazione del DNA; l’amplificazione dell’estratto mediante PCR; la tipizzazione; gli STR e i Kit commerciali in uso; nuove frontiere: i mini-STR e gli SNP’s; cenni di metodologia statistica nelle indagini genetiche.
- Altri settori della criminalistica: metodi di esaltazione, classificazione e comparazione su banca dati delle impronte papillari (digitali e palmari); indagini grafiche su manoscritti, dattiloscritti e documenti a stampa, contraffazione di documenti, carte valori, francobolli, banconote e assegni, rivelazione di scrittura latente; indagini foniche della voce umana: fonetica articolatoria e acustica, riconoscimento vocale
-Aspetti medico-legali della criminalistica: lesioni da corpo contundente, da arma bianca, da arma da fuoco; asfissiologia; lesioni da fuoco e calore; i grandi traumatismi; morte da sostanze stupefacenti
Crime scene inspection
- The inspection of the judicial police in the legal system: inspection and scientific investigations by Carabinieri and the State Police; general criteria of the survey: the purpose and practical application; equipment and materials, preparation, protection and access to the scene of the crime; search for biological traces; search for fingerprints; research and comparison of different tracks (tires, shoe soles, etc., the biological evidence collection, evidence collection and enhancement of fingerprints of trace evidence collection unit; abandonment from the scene, the general criteria of Bloodstain Pattern Analysis (BPA); application of BPA to inspection .
- The ballistic evidence collection, and elements of ballistic: general on weapons and ammunition; legislation on weapons; interior ballistics, intermediate and terminal. General information on ballistics identification, fingerprint imprints that the weapon of the cartridge case and bullet; the comparison microscope and the IBIS system.
- Introduction to the medicinal forensic aspects of the survey: fundamentals of topographic anatomy; The evaluation of the time of death; tanatologia and cadaverous phenomena; identification of skeletal remains.
Criminalistics
- Forensic Biology: the biological traces; generic detection of blood; identification of human blood, semen, saliva; DNA: structure and characteristics; the evolution of genetic testing; techniques of DNA extraction; by PCR amplification of the extract; typing; the STR and the commercial kit in use; New frontiers: the mini-STR and SNP's; hints of statistical methodology in genetic investigations.
- Other areas of criminalistics: methods for enhancements, classification and comparison of database fingerprinting papillary (digital and PDAs); graphic surveys of manuscripts, typescripts and printed documents, falsification of documents, securities, stamps, banknotes and checks, detection of latent writing; phonic investigations of human speech: articulatory and acoustic phonetics, speech recognition
